MV Print, formed from the merger of Mags Laser and Vision Press two years ago, is undertaking a two for one folder replacement programme.

The latest generation Stahlfolder CH 66 combination folder replaces two older models and will feature a gatefold attachment. This means that the Middlesbrough company can bring outwork back in and enable its trade finishing side to offer a new service.
‘This is an upgrade. We have a buckle machine but we handle a lot of signature work and we prefer to use knives for these 8, 16 and 32 page sections. It also allows us to handle six panel concertinas and gatefolds for the first time,’ said Sean Maynard, one of the company’s four directors.
The operators are familiar with Stahlfolder technology and the reliability of the machines is proven, both factors in MV Print’s decision to stick with Heidelberg. The new folder will run on a two shifts a day basis.
The investment in folding capacity will be the company’s only spend this year but it is looking at major capital expenditure in 2015.
