As part of a major investment programme, East Riding Sacks, based near York, has invested in a Bobst F&K 20SIX CS eight colour CI flexo press for water based inks and coatings.

The new press has a 1300 mm web width and will be equipped with the ‘smartSet’ impression and registration system, which provides automatic impression and registration setting of all print units on the press. This offers rapid set up with significant savings on waste and energy. According to ERS managing director, Rob Mabbett, ‘This will allow us to consider profitable production of short run lengths.’

Founded in 1968, East Riding Sacks is one of the largest independent sack manufacturers in the UK with current production capacity around 140 million sacks per annum.

The new, high speed, Bobst F&K 20SIX CS, sold by Bobst Bielefeld with Bobst UK Agent, Edlon Machinery Ltd, will join a print department which includes design and reprographic control including plate making and amongst other printing machines, an existing F&K FP-16S flexo press, processing large reels of high quality sack kraft mainly sourced from Scandinavian mills.
