Out and about at Halloween

If you are wondering what to do with the kids this Halloween, take a look at Yesterday’s World in Battle. Between Friday 24 October and Sunday 2 November the attraction will be decorated in a spooky theme and children can take part in a ghost hunt quiz by looking for ghost cut outs in the displays while answering interesting questions about the exhibits.

Yesterday’s World takes visitors on a journey to discover fantastic memorabilia dating from the 18th century right up to the 1950s. The museum is considered to be one of the best social living history collections in the UK with 150,000 nostalgic artefacts displayed over five floors including the amazing royalty room which includes letters from Queen Elizabeth II to Prince Phillip and interactive displays where well known characters including Queen Victoria tell us about their lives.

New this year is a new exhibit depicting life in the trenches during the First World War with sounds and graphics telling the story of key events including the battle of the Somme, the Third Battle of Ypres and how the war ended when Germany signed the armistice document.

Visitors can also see the effects the war had on towns and cities in the Second World War through a recreated outside blitz street scene complete with replica unexploded bomb. Discover an underground air raid shelter complete with bunk beds.

Yesterday’s World also has an old fashioned sweet shop and gift shop.

The children’s quiz is free with admission: adults £7.95, seniors £6.95, students £6.95, Children (4 to 15 years) £5.75, family ticket (2+2) £23.50 – extra child £3.95

The attraction is open daily from 10.30 to 5pm. See website for further details www.yesterdaysworld.co.uk
