Wander amongst the flowers...

Despite being ten days later than usual, the bluebells are rapidly reaching their annual crescendo of colour in the wonderful natural setting of Hole Park Gardens in Rolvenden, Kent.

Often described as one of the best places to see bluebells in the country, the bluebell walk has been extended this year into Brickiln Wood to allow visitors to explore Garlic Valley which is currently full of shimming silver and white wild garlic flowers.

Whilst all the gardens are disabled friendly, sadly the garlic valley is too steep, with 30 steps so is unsuitable for wheelchairs.

The Bluebell Barometer on the Hole Park website gives visitors regular updates on when the bluebells are expected to be at their peak.

New for 2015, a planting programme of 15,000 bulbs and new avenues leading from the fountain pool into copses with feature urns.

The gardens have particular interest in the spring with rhododendron and azaleas planted in the woodland garden accompanied by Camellias, magnolias and any number of spring bulbs and wild flowers.

The bluebell wood adjoins the renowned 16 acre gardens that have been created by four generations of the Barham family since the current owners great grandfather arrived there in 1911.

Meanwhile the formal gardens, defined by extensive yew hedges, walled gardens, pools and statues offer plenty of space in which to relax and take in the breathtaking beauty of this tranquil setting, with ample benches on which to rest and swings and areas for the children to enjoy.

The present owners Edward and Clare Barham have created new features around the gardens including an exotic border for late summer and early autumn interest.

Light lunches and delicious homemade cakes and cream teas are available in the coach house, where apple juice
