Get building for the future

Green Square, the UK’s first dedicated renewable energy company, is opening a showroom in Kent and to celebrate the launch, local children are being given the chance to win an iPad – as well as £250 for their school – by designing an eco friendly ‘House of the Future’.

Children aged seven to 16 are invited to design a futuristic eco house in any style they like, whether a painting, a drawing, done on the computer, or a model made with pipe cleaners and egg cartons – the more imaginative the better!

The winner will be invited to attend the official opening of Green Square’s new showroom on London Road, Tunbridge Wells, on Tuesday 14 July at 1 pm, where Councillor David Neve the deputy mayor of Tunbridge Wells and Jill Neve the deputy mayoress will join other local dignitaries to celebrate the occasion.

Pupils of the Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys will be delivering a presentation at the event, explaining the types of renewable energy and how they make a positive impact on the environment, and sharing the important views of the next generation.

Paul Smith, centre manager of Green Square Tunbridge Wells, said: ‘This is a great opportunity for young people in Kent and East Sussex to be creative and really think about renewable energy and building a sustainable living environment.

‘We are excited to be launching in the area and have lots lined up to mark the opening of our new showroom and we very much look forward to welcoming the Grammar School pupils to share their thoughts on renewable energy.

‘With the renewable energy industry flourishing and homeowners rapidly switching to green energy alternatives nationally, the demand for technologies such as biomass stoves and boilers, solar and air and ground source heat pumps is increasing in Kent and East Sussex, making it the perfect time to expand our business here.’

To enter Green Square’s House of the Future competition, children should send or deliver their designs to Green Square, 9 London Road, Tunbridge Wells, TN1 1DA by Thursday 9 July 2015. Each entry must have the following information written on the back: child’s name, age, parent’s contact details, school name and an annotation explaining why the house design is environmentally friendly.
