Amateur sleuths can test their deductive skills and try to beat Sherlock Holmes to the solution when Groombridge Place hosts a thrilling murder mystery evening on Saturday 19 September 2015.

The Homecoming' gets underway with the arrival of William Oakington, who is returning to Oakington Hall after four years away from home. The happy occasion turns sour, however, when head of the family Oscar Oakington loses his temper over a trivial matter. Later, a dead body is discovered, but who stabbed the victim and why?

Even Dr Watson falls under suspicion as master detective Sherlock Holmes attempts to track down the culprit. His fellow guests will have the chance to investigate and hunt for clues between courses – over coffee, the identity of the killer will be revealed, with prizes on offer for those who successfully crack the case.

Written in the style of Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle by Sherlock Holmes expert, Dr Antony Richards, 'The Homecoming' is a fully interactive, classic country house whodunit that will test the guests' sleuthing skills in a fun and entertaining way.

The three course menu begins with a salad of late summer vegetables, goat's cheese curd, apple cider dressing and sourdough croute. A roast rump of Kentish lamb with minted pea puree, rosemary potatoes, shallot and smoked Ashmore tatin and pommes beignets forms the main course, followed by a dessert of vanilla pannacotta with butter roasted pears and chocolate Chantilly.

The fun starts at 7 pm on Saturday September 19 and tickets cost £40, including the meal and coffee. Each guest will receive a souvenir script booklet to take home.
