Susan Ashford from Tunbridge Wells now awarded £5000 as a Halifax Giving Extra Award regional winner.

Further to our previous story, Tunbridge Well’s Susan Ashford has now been chosen as the Halifax Giving Extra Award winner for the South East region. This means she will receive £5000, which she is donating to the domestic abuse charity that she spends so much of her time volunteering for.

Now in its third year, the Halifax Giving Extra Awards reward people who bring communities together and help them thrive. Charity fundraisers, sports coaches, community volunteers and many more have been recognised for the contribution they make.

Susan had already been recognised as one of 66 local winners from across the UK. She has now been chosen as one of seven regional winners who will each receive £5000 to make a further difference in their community.

The £5000 will help fund the charity’s continuing work supporting people and children involved in abusive relationships, reduce their risk of on-going harm and potential homicide.

Susan said, ‘That is just incredible, that will go so far to helping our ladies and gentlemen who are trying to escape. Thanks to Halifax for doing such an amazing thing; it puts in so much work and effort into recognising these local causes. I feel very privileged amongst all those people that were nominated to be chosen.’

Well done, Susan!
