...at the Spa Valley Railway in August
If you are looking for a great value family day out this summer, then look no further than the Spa Valley Railway where everyone can enjoy the popular ‘Kids for a Quid’ promotion.
The railway offers amazing value this summer when kids travel for just £1 when accompanied by an adult who travels for just £11. A family ticket for two adults and two children is just £22.

Kids for a Quid trains will operate on Tuesdays in August t using the historic 'Thumper' 1317. 'Thumper' was built in the 1960s and used to operate trains on the line until British Railways closed it 30 years ago. He has since been lovingly restored by dedicated volunteers and offers visitors a step back in time to an era when our railway was a bustling through route to major towns and cities in Kent and Sussex.
Anyone aged 16 or over can now travel up front with the driver on Thumper between Tunbridge Wells West and Groombridge. You must book in advance. The cost is £10.
Passengers travelling on the railway can choose to disembark at the High Rocks and visit the rocks themselves and perhaps choose to enjoy a meal in the inn whilst watching the trains go by. Or perhaps choose to visit Groombridge Place with its giant tree swings. Joint tickets are also available with train travel and admission to Groombridge Place. The attraction is just 15 minute walk from Groombridge Station.
