Foundry extends plate production with a Suprasetter

Foundry Press is trading in a nine year old Topsetter and purchasing the Heidelberg Suprasetter A75 as part of consumables deal, repaying the capital cost of the equipment as it calls off Saphira Chem-free plates. This is an increasingly popular financial package with printers not only repaying on machines but also on service contracts.

The timing of Foundry’s investment has been influenced by its decision to bring its new digital press, an Indigo 7800, and its prepress operations into one department.

‘We decided that rather than move the Topsetter we would update our CTP. The Suprasetter will output up to 17 plates an hour compared to the 10 to 12 an hour we currently produce. The plates will feed our Speedmaster CD 74-10-P,’ said Warren Sweatman, works manager.

The Auto Loader was a convincing factor in the buying decision. It will allow the Horsham company to produce plates unmanned overnight. The pressroom runs 24, hours a day, five days a week so the plate hungry press will be well fed.

The company still attributes 75% of its turnover to litho production and is a loyal Heidelberg customer.
