What is Print iT?
Launched in 2005, Print iT is an educational initiative which informs students and teachers about the graphic arts and also encourages young people to consider a career in the industry.
As part of the curriculum based course, students are challenged to create a print based project that also allows them to develop business and life skills.
The programme has already reached over 150,000 students and more than 2000 schools and is highly valued by both. It is the UK’s biggest schools into industry programme.
As part of the initiative, a survey is also carried out. Following the completion of Print iT, 61% of students actively seek work experience in print, and they are three times more likely to think about taking an apprenticeship in this industry and twice as likely to follow a career path in the graphic arts.

Why do we need it?
Change is coming. Has come. Will continue to come. And we simply have to embrace that to survive.
A print or packaging company of today has to offer more – IT skills, web building skills, data management skills, software writing skills, consultative engagement, as well as traditional print.
A design company of today needs to embrace – multi-media skills, web skills, colour management, a better use of processes and techniques, as well as even more creativity than ever before.
But, with the greatest of respect, it is only the minority of companies who have these skills in-house, or who have people who they can upskill. We simply need to attract new talent. Young talent.
We have to make school students, degree level students, apprentices, engage with our industry. We have to show them that print is not just about print – it is about so much more. That packaging is not just about packaging – it is so much more.
