Mutoh has announced a new 64” wide single head Piezo drop on-demand sign and display printer, called ValueJet 1624X. The new 1624X printer is the successor of Mutoh’s best selling ValueJet 1624 printer introduced in 2011. Delivering sellable production speeds at 720 x 720 dpi up to 20.5 m2 per hour , the VJ-1624X integrates Mutoh’s Intelligent Interweaving (i2) and new revolutionary DropMaster print automation technology. Other features include a newly designed motorised take up system for rolls up to 30 kg and Eco Ultra litre ink bags.

The VJ-1624X printer can be configured with Mutoh Eco Ultra or Universal Mild Solvent (UMS) inks and is targeted at long term outdoor and indoor sign and display applications such as posters, banners, backlit signage, wall coverings, point of sale displays, fine art reproductions, vehicle graphics, stickers and much more. For the UMS inks, Mutoh recently obtained a pan European Indoor Air Comfort Certificate, which makes the inks ideally suited for the production of indoor deco prints.

The VJ-1624X has one latest generation micro Piezo head on board. The variable drop print head has eight channels with 180 nozzles per channel and can produce ink drops as small as 3.5 picolitres up to 35.2 picolitres. To accommodate a wide range of substrates, the head height can be set to low and high position.
