CPI Books UK has selected Canon’s VarioPrint 6320 and VarioPrint 110 engines to refresh its printing operations, meet the growing trend for print on-demand services.

With its latest investment CPI will not only be able to reach print speeds of almost 1700 A4 impressions per minute, but also print numerous different books and materials during a single print run.

‘We are seeing a significant shift towards a need for print on-demand services,’ said Martin Collyer, general manager, STMA Division, CPI UK. ‘We chose the VarioPrint technology because we needed to produce books in high volumes but with an incredibly short run time. The machines are not only ultra high speed with excellent quality, but also flexible enough to give us the agility we need to adapt to changing market demands. We looked at a variety of technologies from different manufacturers but the Canon VarioPrint range were the only machines that could deliver on everything our business needs.’

To ensure that its mission critical printing functions stay on line throughout busy periods and are not hampered by downtime, CPI has also chosen to upgrade its existing Océ Prisma workflow to the latest version 5 to ensure its operations are always up and running driving increased productivity.
