The UK’s first Lithrone Perfector with Komori H-UV curing system has just been installed at Southampton’s Indigo Press.
The eight colour B2 Lithrone S829 Perfector replaces a 2006 five colour Lithrone 28 and is working alongside a ten colour Komori Lithrone 29 Perfector which Indigo bought in 20

Joint managing director (sales and marketing), Tony Swift, said: ‘Since Richard Docherty, John Ellis and I bought the company in 2004, our philosophy has always been to ensure that Indigo is at the forefront of technology whilst continuing to retain a careful balance of quality, service, speed and price. To stay competitive, we continually review all aspects of the business to ensure that our processes are as efficient as possible.
‘This new H-UV Lithrone won’t just help us to produce jobs quicker – now that we have the H-UV drying system in our arsenal, we can win jobs that we wouldn’t have been able to produce efficiently or quickly enough previously.’
John Ellis, joint managing director (production), added: ‘There is an increasing demand for uncoated substrates, and now we won’t ever need to worry about long drying times or marking on any materials that have traditionally been considered to dry slowly. Additionally, we are now able to perfect jobs which couldn’t previously be perfected, for example, landscape A4 books or work with full out images, even when these are on both sides of the sheet.’
Joint managing director (finance), Richard Docherty, concluded: ‘We could be printing a highly prestigious 100 page brochure for a household name or a set of business cards for the electrician on the corner – our business model ensures that we continue to make profits in all of these areas and a wide spread and good balance of all sorts of jobs and clients is something which keeps us on our toes and ensures that we are a healthy business.’
