Kolbus GmbH and Timsons Engineering Ltd have announced that the Timsons litho book press will again be in production following the signing of a collaborative agreement.
Recognising the gap left in the market Kolbus reached agreement with Timson Engineering Ltd to recommence production of the Timsons T48 and ZMR (Zero make ready) presses.
With specific cut sizes and fold patterns the presses are ideal for both paperback and hardback book production.

Using their existing manufacturing expertise and technical knowledge of the machines, Timsons Engineering will build the print towers. They will go to Germany where Kolbus will manufacture the inking system and folders, buying in stackers and reel stands to complete the manufacturing process. New presses will be built to the existing Timsons design but will be Kolbus badged.
New Kolbus presses will be marketed, installed and serviced by Kolbus GmbH and its agencies throughout the world with the exception of USA and Canada where Timsons Incorporated will continue in this role. The 300 Timsons presses already in use worldwide will continue to be supported and serviced by Timsons Engineering, Timsons Inc and Easydot, depending on their geographical location.
Robert Flather, Kolbus UK managing director, said: ‘The Timsons press was a niche product, highly valued and with a solid client base. It was the state of the market and erratic demand which led to the withdrawal of the press from manufacture rather than any fault of the product, something recognised by Kolbus who have already taken on the manufacture of the Timsons T-Fold. The Timsons press will dovetail into our existing product range and enable us to offer customers a more complete printing and binding solution.’
