Yule learn something...

The word Christmas derives from ‘Christ's Mass’. In old English it was ‘Cristes moesse’, which literally means 'Christian Mass'.
Using Xmas instead is not irreligious. The ‘X’ is the Greek letter chi, the initial letter of the word Christ.
The word Noel originates from the Latin word 'natalis', which means 'day of birth'.
Advent derives from the Latin ‘adventus’, which means arrival.
And, Yule comes from the Old Norse word, jól. This was the name of a twelve day pagan festival leading up to what is now Christmas Day.
