Four years after installing a Linoprint C751, Galloways in Cheshire has returned to Heidelberg for a supplementary digital press, a Linoprint CV.

Last year Galloways installed a Tharstern MIS system which intelligently costs work for digital or litho production, allowing it to provide clients with clear and precise options.

Testing the capability of a machine is second nature to the company which has been in business for over a century. The first Linoprint, a C751, has produced work on lightweight gloss papers through to 350 g//m2 uncoated colour speciality stocks.

In investing in the Linoprint CV, Galloways wanted to extend that range further and also to benefit from the fifth colour (white or transparent) and the larger format.

‘The fifth colour and increased sheet size allows us to offer something more to the marketplace,’ said Andrew Galloway, managing director. ‘Since the installation of the first Linoprint, the downside has always been the restriction to the SRA3 sheet size and the cost of finishing compared to UV litho work. Digital has encouraged us to market our services and we produced swatch books so that potential clients can see what is possible.’
