Abbey Print has chosen a Premier 420 perfect binder from Terry Cooper Services (TCS) to enhance its existing book work and enable it to expand its market reach.

The Spalding operation produces general commercial print on two five colour Komori 528s and two Heidelberg GTOs – a two-colour and a single colour – and digital print on a Ricoh Pro C8100 and Pro C751ex.

It invested in the Premier 420 binder that binds in one process to replace an ageing solution and support its NCR production work. Explains Production director Aubrey Howling, ‘We have runs of five to ten up to 200 to 250 and needed something that could handle flexible demand. Because the set up takes just a few minutes the fast make ready is perfect for us.’

He continued, ‘We have been working with TCS for a number of years. It knows and understands our business. So we knew the support would be there and that it would ensure we invested in a machine that would best support our business.’

The Premier 420 binder features a heavy duty design for production durability, a positive spine forming clamping and nipping station, as well as two application glue rollers for superior, efficient application. It also has an intelligent control, seven inch touch screen menu function with self test and diagnose capabilities.

Aubrey concluded, ‘Because of the improved make readies production is streamlined and work is on and off the binder and out the door very quickly. We can now increase the amount of perfect binding we do for existing clients and new customers.’
