Herma UK has invested more than £500,000 in a new slitting machine for plastic films, refined papers, and laminates.
Three slitting machines now operate around the clock five days a week at the company’s UK location in Newbury, Berkshire.

Herma’s self-adhesive materials division is registering sustained strong growth, not least due to the innovative multi-layer technology. After new slitting machine was recently put into operation at the company’s headquarters in Filderstadt, Germany, its British subsidiary, which grew by more than 30% last year, has now also invested in a new slitting machine for film based materials.
At a maximum speed of 800 metres per minute, the slitting machine enables the efficient processing of large orders as well as small batches while providing a consistently high quality along with short set up times.
Colin Phillips, director of the self-adhesive materials division at Herma UK, said: ‘Thanks to our multi-layer technology, printers can produce labels from film based label stock much more easily – with less adhesive bleeding and reduced contamination of the slitting dies. Moreover, we are currently registering a very buoyant market, with many customers and end users demanding a next day service. Thanks to the new, versatile slitting machine, we are able to fulfil these demands.’
