PS2 Print has added a package of press peripherals to its Komori LS 429 M, a H-UV press. It recognises that this technology requires an even greater eye for detail in the way the press is run and controlled and having water treatment (basic.r), temperature adjustment (alpha.c) and filtration (alpha.f) ensures the dampening is stringently controlled.

Peter Lewis, operations director of the Runcorn company, said: ‘The water in this area is normally very good but we wanted to ensure the pH and hardness was spot on so that there were no issues on press. Anything we can control, like water and temperature, keeps production consistent and the filtration also reduces our chemistry waste which has environmental benefits. Today everyone is more planet- conscious and aware of what they can and cannot throw down the drain or dispose of and, as an ISO 14001 certified company, we take that responsibility seriously.’

PS2 has had a relationship with technotrans over many years but this time round the investment was on the advice of Komori and PS2 has been pleased with the outcome. It prints (and finishes) a wide range of products using litho, digital and wide format digital equipment and it places an emphasis on providing high quality print and communicating well with its clients.

Peter Benton, managing director of technotrans in the UK, added: ‘Press peripherals are no longer a luxury but a necessity. Press speeds have increased and technologies which reduce production tolerances make process control essential. These include all the low energy UV, waterless or low/no alcohol options. Talking costs nothing and we are always happy to offer consultancy to uncover ways of improving the quality, environmental credentials and/or bottom line results in the pressroom. We now offer services to both litho and digital users.’
