PPB Ltd is very optimistic about its future growth and expansion in London and the Home Counties after moving into a specifically designed new building in September of 2015. The new distribution centre has over 1200 pallet spaces and is serviced by four 26 tonne lorries.

The new warehouse and offices are close to PPB’s original southern base next to the M25 and provide excellent transport links for central London and the South East. A daily trunker runs from the main Leeds warehouse arriving at 5 am and lorries are then loaded up for local deliveries. There remains very close stock management between London and Leeds with London holding faster moving items that are normally supplied in bulk quantities.

Same day delivery is available as well as an out of hour’s delivery service if required with larger accounts often benefitting from two to three deliveries per day.

Managing director Richard Proctor said, ‘It is all about maintaining and improving service levels to customers in London and surrounding areas. We have implemented a new agreement with TNT to cover smaller deliveries which will benefit customers of our new Westland Digital Media products.’

To support the investment in facilities, the company has made a number of strategic appointments. Steve Skinner is the new branch manager having spent 25 years with Robert Horne/PaperlinX as manager for the London premises. Tom Ponton has also joined PPB from PaperlinX where he was an account manager. He now covers the wide portfolio of products and has already secured a number of clients. Sarah Janes, ex managing director for Sihl Paper and more recently Neschen has joined the team to bolster wide format digital media sales and support the recently launched Westland Digital Portfolio. Keith Muston is the warehouse manager, in charge of ensuring the smooth running of the London logistics.

Richard added, ‘This significant investment is part of our on-going strategy to refocus PPB from its origins as a paper and board stockist merchant. We have invested heavily to provide the widest range of plastic, paper and board, display materials and finishing services for the screen print and digital display markets. Further investment in machinery and stock now allows us to provide a high value service to sign makers, fabricators and wide format digital markets. Our new product offering also recognises the developing needs of customers. We stock and convert industrial plastics, graphical products, and the newly launched Westland Digital Display Media, Priplak and ProBond (an aluminium composite range).

‘For our existing customers it will see them benefiting from new products, logistics and expertise. For new customers it will give them the reassurance of dealing with a company that has an extensive history, with expertise in their industry; that is here to grow and develop with them to offer new market opportunities.’
