Hull commercial printer Jadan Press has expanded its in-house services with the addition of a Horizon SPF/FC-200L landscape bookletmaker and a Horizon AFC-566 folder from Intelligent Finishing Systems.

‘Landscape work was something we were keen to offer,’ explained Pam Wainman, managing director of the company that produces litho and digital print on two Heidleberg Speedmasters and a Linoprint. ‘More and more customers are asking for it.’

‘We had a Duplo system but we hand finished landscape jobs and needed something that could achieve the perfect finish. We looked at other systems but the Horizon fitted into the floor space. We also liked its easy operation and the quality results.’

Pam continued, ‘I think we will achieve return on investment in 18 months. It runs every day, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and it is running perfectly. We already have the work going through the machine and any new work is just a bonus. We don’t just sit back and expect customers to come to us. We can now meet people and give them ideas. It is a two way relationship.’

Jadan Press’s SPF/FC-200 incorporates all the highly automated features of the successful SPF/FC200A bookletmaker plus the ability to feed A4 landscape sheets up to 640 mm in length.

‘We can deliver a more responsive service to our existing customers,’ Pam continued, ‘and we can be more flexible on the folds we offer. We are very much looking to differentiate ourselves from the competition. At the end of the day we are all putting ink on paper but this gives us a way of standing out. We expect it to pay for itself inside the next two years.’
