Dorset Digital Print has taken delivery of a Polar 66 ECO to replace an older machine.

‘We needed a more robust guillotine which could handle the wide range of commercial print we produce,’ said Iain Stewart, managing director of the Poole based firm. ‘We typically handle stocks from 100 to 350 g/m2 for national companies, local businesses and even some walk-in trade.’

Iain worked for Heidelberg UK at one time so needed no convincing on the credentials of the Polar make and its good resale value. He bought Dorset Digital Print two years ago.

‘We have taken both tungsten carbide and HSS (high speed steel) knives so that we can choose the right blade for the job. The knife changing system is good and easy to use. The Polar 66 ECO is right for our business,’ he said.

The Polar 66 Eco is a low cost model, ideal for the digital house and small and medium sized response printer or inplant. A robust workhorse with 198 programme capacity for commonly used jobs and an easy to use 5.5 inch screen. It is a based on a proven design, easy to use and maintain, and is supported by Heidelberg’s UK wide base of engineers.

Cutting programmes can be generated manually or via stored programmes which can also be recalled via barcode reader. Knife adjustment and change is very straightforward and LED lights show the operator the cutting line.
