Birmingham based Baker Goodchild has invested in a new Buhrs mailing machine and camera matching system, in order to help increase its current capacity and capabilities, and add to the company’s extensive print and fulfilment equipment.
The direct mail fulfilment company has added the new mailer as an additional back up machine to its existing Buhrs BB300, which will increase the company’s C4 capacity. In addition a separate piece of equipment, the new Lake Image Discovery i5 camera matching system has also been purchased, and this will be attached to the new BB300.

The Lake Image Discovery camera matching system comprises two GE1200 GigE cameras that are capable of reading OCR, 2D Datamatrix and 1D barcodes. The addition of the camera matching system will provide Baker Goodchild with the extra integrity that hand fulfilment cannot, enabling them to match prime documents to an insert or an insert to a C5 non-window envelope, without having to worry about human error. The camera system will also automatically identify when the names do not correspond. By adding the camera matching system the company will be able to increase its productivity and also be provided with an extra reassurance in its checking processes.
The BB30 has been especially designed for same sized mailings in all formats and even for special formats, and is capable of handling 10,000 envelopes per hour, from 114 x 162 mm to up to 250 x 353 mm in size.
A highly flexible and reliable multi-format machine, it can not only handle all popular and special formats such as square or creative envelopes, but can also cater for envelopes with multiple windows.
The Buhrs BB300 can also handle envelope inserts such as CDs or product sample applications, providing a flexible solution to a variety of mailing applications. It can also provide a tailored solution for personalised mailing.
Managing director Lorraine Burnell stated, ‘We are always looking to improve our systems and capabilities where possible, and with the addition of a further Buhrs machine we are continuing with our intentions to increase our capacity, whilst also following the latest industry trends to ensure maximum quality and reliability.’
