Plastics Capital, the niche plastics producer, has announced an investment made through its subsidiary C&T Channel Matrix Ltd in Channel Creasing Matrix Inc (CCM), based in West Virginia, USA.

C&T is a world leader in the manufacture of plastics creasing matrix, and has manufacturing operations in the UK and China. C&T Channel exports mainly from the UK under the ‘Channel’ brand name through 130 distributors to 70 countries around the world.

CCM descends from the US licensee of the creasing matrix patent originally developed by the UK based forerunner of C&T over 50 years ago. CCM owns the Channel brand in the US. In addition to manufacturing creasing matrix for the US market, it also distributes a range of die and box making consumables and enjoys a strong and broad customer base across the United States.

The investment by the Plastics Capital group company will be beneficial for both CCM and C&T. CCM will be able to develop its business in the US with manufacturing and financial support from C&T; whilst C&T will benefit from CCM’s consumables distribution expertise, direct access to end customers and the use of the Channel brand name in the US. CCM’s well established distribution channels, technical service and strong branding in the US combined with C&T’s global manufacturing excellence and extended product range will bring the end customer unrivalled quality, product choice and customer service.

Simon Shenton, managing director of C&T Channel Matrix, said: ‘Our two companies share many core values – we have similar foundations and both have a commitment to meet the real needs of clients, helping them to optimise operational productivity and enhance the quality of their finished product.

‘Over the past decade C&T has continued to grow its client base organically and has increased its global footprint substantially despite challenging economic conditions. With now over 130 distributors across 70 countries, we are the leading producer of creasing matrix worldwide and we have significant ambitions for future growth. This includes investments in distribution businesses such as this one in CCM which help improve our market penetration in key territories.’
