ABC Imaging in London has ordered four new Canon digital toner production presses – two flagship imagePress C10000VPs and two imagePress C800 devices. The contract, which was signed at drupa, is worth approximately €500,000 and represents the latest investment by ABC Imaging in production printing equipment from Canon and originally Océ, with whom the company has had a relationship that stretches back 40 years.

Ray Hawkins, CEO of ABC Imaging, commented: ‘We had a long and happy relationship with Océ and that has continued since it became part of Canon, so much so that around 95% of the equipment we now have is from Canon. The company treat us as a valued customer and we have a good rapport with a lot of senior people in the organisation, so we had no reason to look at any other suppliers.’

Ray continued, ‘With business continuing to grow, especially from the drop in student market, which is becoming immense for us, we decided that we needed to upgrade our digital presses to give us greater capacity. We saw the C10000VP in action at Canon Expo last year and thought that, as well as being more productive, the print quality was so much better than the earlier models.’

The company will now be able to print work that it previously had to outsource, as Ray explained, ‘To date, we have needed to outsource around £5000 of ‘higher quality’ work each month, but the print quality of the C10000VP is so good that we won’t need to outsource that work anymore.’
