New Palamides answers productivity call from APS

Requiring an increase in productivity at its commercial print centre in Cheadle, Cheshire, APS Limited has solved the problem by installing a Palamides Delta 703 automatic stacking delivery system supplied by Friedheim International.

Finishing manager Shaun Dodson said, ‘We needed to give our folding and stitching operations an efficiency boost, and knowing of its build quality and reputation for reliability the Palamides appeared to be the perfect solution. Since its installation it has proved that this reputation is well founded, and we have seen a significant reduction in downtime, which has obviously resulted the increased throughput and productivity that we were looking for!’

Established over 50 years ago, APS Limited started life as a mailing business, and quickly matured into a high quality printer before diversifying into print management in the mid 1990s. It is now part of the APS Group – an international marketing and customer communications company that enjoys strategic partnerships with global clients across many different sectors.

With print runs for commercial applications ranging from 500 copies to many millions, any improvement in the production process is welcomed, as Shaun acknowledged: ‘As we continue to secure more sizable contracts from clients, the need for greater efficiencies will gain ever more importance, and on seeing what we have managed to achieve by installing the Palamides Delta 703, our future course of action will be to identify similar possibilities in other areas.’
