Despite the print industry seeing challenging times over the last decade, Ancient House has held strong and is seeing a healthy increase in business so far this year; with output already rising significantly as they enter their historically busiest period from August to April.
Over the decades the business has gone from strength to strength and now employs over 120 people; with production running 24 hours a day six days a week.

Jim Algar is the new production director. Jim began his print career in 1972 serving his apprenticeship in Felixstowe; then moving across the UK, primarily with Polestar. Rising from apprentice, rising up through the ranks to group technical director, he has tremendous experience and is delighted to be heading up production at Ancient House Printing Group, back in East Anglia.
‘I love the industry! I always have!’ Jim exudes passion when talking about the business and the trade in general. ‘I still find the print process fascinating, bringing the materials together and converting them to the final product. Print used to be regarded as a ‘black art’ and although this is not really the case these days you still need a depth of knowledge to overcome the constant challenges being thrown at you.’
