Loop Print aims H-UV Lithrone at agencies and designers

Sheffield commercial and promotional printer, Loop Print, has just installed its first Komori, a B2 five colour Lithrone S29 with coater and Komori’s H-UV curing system.

Managing director Chris Gray said, ‘Our primary target is to further increase our work for agencies, print brokers and designers. This is generally regarded as a demanding market place, but we see it as a route through to a broader range of business. We have had many years’ experience servicing this sector, and Komori’s latest drying technology will now enable the Loop Group to provide an even more extensive range of promotional collateral, effectively helping us close the Loop around all the printed components of any marketing campaign.

‘Komori H-UV curing along with the Lithrone’s fast make readies and the added value options we will now offer give us the armoury and total confidence to move further into this market and grow our list of direct clients, too. The reliability of H-UV drying will ensure we can keep, even improve, our delivery and quality standards and increase our competiveness across the board.

‘Added in line finishes such as drip off, spot UV, soft touch varnishes and house colours are especially attractive to print designers and their ultimate customers and the H-UV system’s instant drying on uncoated stock and, for that matter, any substrate the designer might specify, will allow us to turn round the short and long runs to meet increasingly tight deadlines.’

Chris continued, ‘We started our search for a new press 18 months ago focusing our analysis on the latest fast drying techniques. Although, at first, we hadn’t considered Komori, our visit to a printer who has a Lithrone with the same specification as we subsequently selected opened our eyes to what we could potentially achieve with the H-UV process. It highlighted not just the obvious benefits of the system but also the added value it generates and the tactile finish and colour intensity it produces – features which are becoming increasingly important for branding on high end promotional brochures, mailings and leaflets, which are the mainstay of our business at present.’

‘The Lithrone is also our first completely new press and will replace the five colour B2 Heidelberg Speedmaster perfector we installed almost seven years ago. We will need no sealing with the H-UV system, which also means we can fully optimise the Lithrone’s five units and coater and it also enables us to eliminate spray powder completely, which is good for the shop floor and ensures a smoother, friendlier print finish.’

Loop Print has been established for 50 years starting out as South Yorkshire Printers and rebranding as Loop Print in 2009. The commercial print side of the company handles catalogues, brochures, newsletters, mailers, reports, manuals and stationery of almost every nature for sectors ranging from retail to medical, engineering and manufacturing.

The Loop Print Group includes two associates: with its digital print facilities, which include Konica Minolta 1070 and 7000 bizhubs, Loop Promo produces personalised business gifts; Loop Display Graphics has Vutek QS 2000 flatbed and Roland VS540 large format machines for producing exhibition and POS graphics, banners and posters.

Chris said, ‘Where the job format and run length is appropriate, the H-UV instant ink curing will also provide us with the facility to produce work on plastics and foil which are not traditionally printed litho, potentially opening another whole new market for us within the point of sale and packaging fields, too.’
