Newnorth Print is installing a Stahlfolder KH 82, an automated combination machine that will increase its folding capacity and give it the quality and control it needs. It is supplied with the Palamides Alpha 500hd delivery system.
‘A job is only complete when it is finished and so folding accuracy and reliability is critical and is a component in the quality and delivery that marks our company out and keeps our customers loyal,’ said Dave Hennessy, production director.

The split between buckle and combination folders is about 60 to 40% in the UK. The choice depends on the mix of work. The combination folder like the one going into Newnorth Print is popular where the volume of work allows a machine to be dedicated to producing sections. Its smaller footprint, quicker set-up and potentially higher running speeds make the combination machine a winner.
The company, which is based in Kempston near Bedford, did review the competition before making its selection and the operators trialled the machine in the Heidelberg showroom and undertook several customer visits.
The Stahlfolder KH 82 is a B1 machine available with round pile, flat pile or pallet feeding. It can handle sheet sizes from 140 x 180 mm up to 820 x 120 mm (128 mm with round pile continuous feeding).
