Trade printer Walsh Colour Print is opting for technotrans peripherals to maximise control as it switches to H-UV technology. The first of three Komori presses, a GLX 840, has been delivered to the Kerry plant and technotrans has equipped it with temperature control (beta.c), water treatment (alpha.r10) and dampening solution filtration (beta.f).

Managing director Tony Walsh said, ‘We have used technotrans from day one and have always found the equipment reliable. With the move to H-UV the process control must be spot on so, although we have no issues with our water, we want to ensure the hardness and pH is exactly right. Filtration of the dampening will help in this respect, too, but the primary reason behind this purchase is the saving in chemistry costs. We believe we will cut our chemistry bill by 60% with the beta.f.’

It is the Irish company’s first water treatment and filtration systems but it has used the technotrans’ temperature control technology from the start.

A Lithrone GL 540 plus coater will arrive at the end of November and a B2 format GL 529 plus coater next year. These two will also be H-UV systems and Mr Walsh says they will also feature technotrans peripherals.

The company supplies a wide range of commercial print to the trade in Ireland and the UK. Walsh Colour Print operates three eight hour shifts a day to meet its customers’ needs. Its focus is on high productivity, reliable quality and keen pricing.
