Roland DG has announced the latest in its series of open days, with a focus on the prototyping industry – from packaging through to 3D production. Taking place on the 23 November 2016 at the company’s Creative Centre in Clevedon, attendees will have the opportunity to discover how digital prototyping workflow can add profit and productivity to their business, from start to finish.
Throughout the day, Roland DG experts Peter Kettle and Andrew Dudley will be on hand to discuss the various workflow solutions the company’s technology can offer businesses, from simple label production through to large scale merchandising production. With the inclusion of both the Modela milling technology and VersaUV print technology, there will be something for businesses of any size.
With 3D prototyping technology, in particular the MDX milling series, accurate prototypes on anything from engineering parts through to mould production, can be produced. With the launch of the Modela MDX-50, producing smooth finish models on a huge range of materials has never been easier, with low operating costs and accelerated production. Also on display will be the industrial Modela Pro II MDX-540 and the compact MDX-40A.
Peter Kettle, business development manager, said: ‘Our packaging and prototyping day is the perfect opportunity to see our solution in person; whether your business is looking to improve prototyping quality or speed, or even bring these services in-house for the first time. With Roland DG technology, a fully digital workflow is possible, bringing your client’s designs to life in a way that’s difficult to achieve through an outsourcing process.’

VersaUV technology will also be on display throughout the day, including the VersaUV LEC series, ideal for the production of high quality labels and packaging prototypes in a wide variety of emulated effects, from embossing through to frosting and raised design work. By utilising both gloss and white ink, as well as vibrant CMYK Eco-UV ink, the LEC ensures a like for like finish on a variety of materials for prototyping.
Other technology available for viewing will include the VersaUV LEF series. Known for printing on virtually anything, the LEF series, including the LEF-12, LEF-20 and LEF-300, is the ideal solution to produce realistic 3D prototypes in full colour. Utilising the same Eco-UV ink as the LEC series, 3D milled or 3D printed objects and be brought to life with vibrant colours as well as luxury effects.
Alongside its own experts, 3D consultant Patrick Thorn will also be on hand to display Artec 3D’s latest handheld scanner technology, which works in tandem with Roland DG’s milling technology to produce viable, high quality prototypes suitable for display, proofing and production purposes.
Also on hand to answer any questions will Roland DG Academy and Creative Centre manager Joe Wigzell.
