Following recent warehouse improvements, Blake, the postal packaging experts – has announced that its pick rate is now running at 99.8% and a 100% in some cases.

Under the direction of new general manager, Graham Carlin, the warehousing and distribution centre in Yeovil has been streamlined in order to improve efficiency and quality. A new bar coding system has been introduced, along with the new EPS system which now ensure best controls are in place.

Graham said, ‘We have a dedicated team onsite in Yeovil who really care about customer service and making sure orders are right every time. We complete a cycle count of over 2000 locations per week which helps to ensure stock accuracy and each member of staff embodies the Blake ‘can do’ attitude which is how we have achieved this remarkable accuracy rate. I am really proud of the team and all the hard work they have put in to ensure that our customers receive the very best service.’
Graham joined the operations team last year from paper merchant Robert Horne, where he had risen from the shop floor to operations director responsible for over 500 employees. His first challenge at Blake was to transform the distribution operation and ensure the warehouse became a centre of excellence.
