Denmaur Independent Papers has become a Carbon Balanced Company.

Environmental responsibility has been at the very heart of Denmaur Independent Papers since its inception. Group sustainability manager Danny Doogan has played the key role in developing and implementing the company’s highly successful ‘Act on CO2 at Denmaur’ programme, which has been a significant factor in reducing the company’s carbon footprint since 2011.

To demonstrate its further commitment, the Denmaur Board recently approved a new of fleet of 12 Scania vehicles whose technology increases engine efficiency driving down diesel costs while bearing down on pollutant emissions as well.

Having reduced its operating carbon emissions, the company made a decision to take its commitment to the next stage and offset its carbon footprint via a recognised Carbon Balanced scheme.

Proving that the company is always keen to add value, it recently relaunched the recycled paper brand Revive in the UK. Not only does the Revive Recycled Paper offer a number of finishes in a wide grammage offer for every eventuality, but Denmaur provides free carbon balancing with every order.

This has been achieved via a partnership with CarbonCo, which works on behalf of The World Land Trust. CarbonCo provides an array of supporting materials – including an independent Carbon Balanced Paper website, logos for Carbon Balanced print and communications and a World Land Trust carbon certificate which serves as a valid record for the customer’s (or end user’s) environmental programme.

Commenting on the executive decision, Danny said: ‘Offsetting our unavoidable carbon emissions through Carbon Balancing is further testament to the company’s commitment to sustainability.’

Group marketing director Peter Sommerville added, ‘With COP22 in Marrakesh about to enforce last year’s historic Paris agreement, we recognise the significance of providing environmental paper solutions for our customers, and what better way than to set an example as a Carbon Balanced company ourselves.’

He continued, ‘As legislation starts to roll out nationally, the need to address carbon emissions will become common place, not only for larger companies, but for the wider economy in general.’
