Falkland Press will use a central cooling system located outside its factory to minimise the waste heat from the ancillary cabinets installed on its highly specified Speedmaster XL106-6, a press which can switch between conventional and UV applications.

Using efficient water cooled heat extraction means the press and operators work in a controlled temperature environment. This reduces air movement in the pressroom and with that reduces airborne dust and debris from the press being blown around. This gives quality and maintenance benefits and provides the operators with a more comfortable environment which allows them to work at maximum efficiency.

Jon Lancaster, managing director of Falkland Press, said: ‘We have a modern, high tech factory and with the huge growth in business from our web to print site PrintedEasy.com (up 320% last year) we are handling an increasing amount of work which requires rapid response. Every investment we make is to ensure we can provide a quick, quality service to customers and offer a wide range of options including packaging, point of sale and commercial print. Having waste heat removed from the factory is good for our efficiency. The installation went well.’

Peter Benton, managing director of technotrans, said: ‘As Falkland Press automates more and more processes so that order to delivery becomes almost seamless they do not want to be distracted by glitches caused by varying ambient conditions, as well as by dust around the press, unnecessary maintenance or over-heated operators. We are pleased to supply Falkland Press for this offset press. We can supply cooling systems for both litho and digital applications.’
