Qualvis Print & Packaging has installed a Suprasetter 106 CTP device with Dual Cassette Loader and turntable. The company looked at two options but came down in favour of the Heidelberg system.

‘We are replacing an older Suprasetter but this latest version and the new laser configuration will give us 40 plates an hour, double the output,’ said Paul Watkinson, reprographic and pre-press manager.

The Leicester company which was formed in 1982 and prides itself on its ‘honesty, knowledge and passion’ offers design services and litho and digital print. It specialises in cartons for the food, multimedia and cosmetics markets and its clients include Waitrose and Tesco.

The new CTP device will handle two plate sizes so having the two plate trays, each holding up to 100 plates, gives it flexibility. Although the platesetter will be tended from 6 am to 9 pm (a double day shift pattern) it can operate unmanned to give 24 hour production.

‘The operators like the Suprasetter and the transfer has been seamless,’ said Paul. ‘Heidelberg service and support is very good; we have no complaints at all.’
