Naya is an innovative, grassroots initiative aimed at empowering women to improve their community environment in the Mumbai slum of Kalwa.

Naya is supported by the Gabriel Project Mumbai and has been running since May 2016. The project has been successfully training and employing women in the slum to handmake recycled paper, creating beautiful new pieces using imagination and skill. Product sales support the initiative, as well as develop facilities and awareness around waste and recycling within the slum.

The initiative now needs some further investment. A relatively small amount of money will allow it to maintain and develop the initiative, employ a local supervisor and establish Naya as a fully self-sustaining local enterprise.

By supporting Naya not only are you creating employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for local women, but you are also helping to tackle waste and environmental pollution in the slums, improving the lives of the entire community.

UK recycled paper merchant paperback is already supporting this project, but Naya is now looking to build on the pilot scheme and is needs additional funding. If you can help, please see
