The BPIF has a vested interest to inform and advise its members (and all in print!) on the incoming changes to apprenticeships. It has come to the organisation’s attention that some print companies are still unaware of what could be in store for them come April, and time is running out to get to grips with it.

The very basics seem to be understood – if your company has a pay bill over £3 million, you will be paying the levy at 0.5%; and if your pay bill is below this, you won’t. However, the government can change not only the threshold for the pay bill, but also the percentage of the levy, as it pleases. So those that take the attitude of ‘I won’t be paying the levy so I don’t need to know’ could be impacted down the line.

In addition to the levy, there are also changes to funding for apprenticeships, the process for paying for apprenticeships, the structure of the apprenticeships themselves, and incentive payments.

To help clear things up for those of you whose heads are in a spin, the BPIF is hosting a free webinar at 10 am on 23 March 2017. To register for your place visit www.britishprint.com/apprenticeshipwebinar
