The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification UK (PEFC) has launched a photographic competition on the theme of ‘Experience Forests, Experience PEFC’. The aim of the contest is to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable forest management and forest certification. PEFC UK is looking for pictures showing how people use the forests for commercial reasons or relaxation purposes, and how wildlife such as birds, animals and insects may use them for food and shelter.

The competition launched on Earth Day and will close on World Environment Day on 5 June. There are three national cash prizes to be won, and the winners will be announced by the end of June. The winning photos will then be entered into an international competition to find a worldwide winner and the chance to win a further prize.
Entrants will be able to submit their photographs through Instagram, Facebook and the dedicated microsite using the hashtag #PEFCUKIRE.
All further details and competition rules are available at: www.pefc.photo
PEFC has certified more than 300 million hectares of forests to its internationally recognised Sustainability Benchmarks, supplying more than 18,000 Chain of Custody certified companies with responsibly sourced timber and wood products, such as those used in producing fibre based paper products such as packaging.
