An Elland business is celebrating after being named on a list of the UK’s 30 most caring companies.
Print management specialists ABS Print UK has been selected alongside SMEs from across the UK for the inaugural ‘Philanthropic 30’, compiled by website Real Business.
The exclusive list recognises the companies that utilise their business as a force for positive social impact, and who retain philanthropy as a key component of their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programme.

ABS has been recognised for its extensive CSR work, both abroad and at home – through its charitable arm, The ABS Foundation, it recently launched the Home Run Project, which aims to utilise long distance running as a means of boosting the health and mental wellbeing of Calderdale’s homeless community.
Earlier this year, ABS staff also helped raise more than £3000 towards flood relief in the region by walking more than 30 miles in 24 hours as part of a sponsored walk organised by Calderdale Watermark.
ABS has also worked alongside the Community Foundation for Calderdale and Calderdale SmartMove in recent weeks, to help them save thousands of pounds on printing costs.
In 2014, ABS funded the construction of an infirmary and volunteer accommodation at the Eliya Children’s Home in Tangalle, Sri Lanka, and the following year provided a grant of £1500 to fund the construction of a classroom roof at East Coast Primary School in Tharangambadi, India.
ABS chairman John Lees said, ‘Whilst our charitable efforts are not motivated by the pursuit of awards, it is pleasing that the dedication of our staff has been recognised in such a tangible way.
‘It is a privilege to be named in such illustrious company on the first ever Philanthropic 30 list, and it is our hope that the news can inspire us to reach greater heights and make an even bigger difference in our community and beyond.’
