PPB has now completed its move to a specifically converted warehouse and office premises at Cross Green in the north east of Leeds.
Logistically this was a big exercise with over 100 trailer loads of stocked items being moved from the old site. It also included the relocation of PPB’s in-house sheeting and re-rewinding equipment plus saw and guillotine.
This move will have several important benefits for customers. First, PPB has taken the opportunity to update the dust extraction system on its Schelling saw by installing a Modesta system which is not only more effective for the removal of dust and debris, but is quieter and more energy efficient than previous equipment. This investment will lead to improved product quality with a reduced risk of dust contamination on converted products.
Secondly, by having one large 61,000 square foot warehouse with 4000 pallet spaces and a bespoke layout, the company will be able to offer faster order response times through improved workflow from goods in, conversion, to goods out, coupled with an increased number of loading bays, improved picking productivity and enhanced stock management. The new warehouse houses PPB’s paper based products along with its new industrial plastics and Westland digital display portfolio.

In addition the warehouse and racking have all been specifically designed to handle large format products thereby ensuring that the company can hold a wider selection of stocked items.
This investment comes after PPB invested in a specially designed new warehouse and office premises in London to fully service London and the Home Counties.
There will continue to be very close stock management between London and Leeds with same day delivery available, as well as an out of hours delivery service if required, with larger accounts often benefitting from two to three deliveries per day.

Richard Proctor, managing director for PPB, said: ‘Leeds was the latest stage in our strategic growth plan. With good road links to the north and the M1 to the south, we are well placed to both accept incoming deliveries from our suppliers and to give fast and effective access to the rest of the UK for our own deliveries to customers.’
Richard added, ‘This investment is part of our on-going strategy to provide the widest range of plastic, paper and board, display materials and finishing services for the screen print and digital display markets. The further investment in machinery and stock now allows PPB to provide a high value service to sign makers, fabricators and wide format digital markets.’
