Chatting with TheVamps!

We at Booked, love those who work hard, and one of the hardest working bands out there right now is those cheeky Brit pop rockers, The Vamps! Made up of Brad (vox and geeeetar), James, (vox and more geeeetar), Con (four stringed beast and vox) and last, but not least Tris

(the beat machine). Forever doing shows

and writing hits, it is a near on Mission Imp-ossible, to nab them for a chat. But, after much stalking and waiting, in the bushes for you lovely readers, we got the chance to bend their ears about music, school, tours and more!

For those who don’t know, how did you guys get together?

James

Well, it started with me. I was writing and playing acoustic covers for YouTube. I found Brad covering Ed Sheeran, and asked if he wanted to do some songwriting together. We started making songs, but then realized we would need a band to perform them. We found Tristan through a friend on Facebook and found Connor on YouTube, also covering songs. That’s how the Vamps were born!

That is a great story! When you are on the road, what do you miss the most?

Brad

I miss my family and my dog Jesse. I enjoy just chilling out at home, skating and playing Xbox. Touring is awesome, but there really isn’t too much time to relax.

What made you guys want to be in a band?

Con

I think we’ve all just loved playing music since we were young. You can’t beat the feeling of performing in front of a crowd. Our fans are so wicked, they sing every word!

What’s your favourite part of being in the band?

Tris

We love to tour and play live. The energy at our shows is amazing. Going around the world, meeting our fans and seeing places we wouldn’t dream of is just insane!

Do you have any rituals before you go on stage?

James

We rub our chins together. - don’t ask!

Ha, ha, that is mad! Do you remember the first song you ever wrote? What was it?

Brad

James and I wrote a song called ‘Rough Night’. It actually made the release as a

B-side. We will have to play it live one day!

How would you describe what you bring to your live shows?

Con

Well, hopefully tons of energy. We all come off stage dripping. It’s so much fun, we can’t help but feed off the crowd, and go crazy. I always get told off for jumping too high, ha, ha.

If you guys could tour with anyone, who would it be, and why?

Tris

I think we would all love to tour with Ed Sheeran. He is such a nice guy, and we would have a wicked time.

What has been your best experiences in the band so far?

James

Touring the world has to be the main highlight. We just finished playing a tour around Australia. It was amazing because it was mega warm and such a relaxed place. We want to do that every January.

That sounds like a plan! What has been your favourite video to make so far?

Brad

We filmed Cecelia over two days in Spain. I loved trekking into the mountains and filming under waterfalls and by secluded lakes.

Wow, that must have been paradise. How was your time at school? Did you enjoy it? What were your favourite subjects?

Con

I loved school. My favourite subjects were music and PE. Anything that didn’t involve too much writing was fine with me!

If you could read only one book, what would it be and why?

Tris

Harry Potter. I just love it.

Yup, that is a very popular choice. What is your biggest inspiration for writing lyrics?

Brad

We just tend to draw from our own experiences. Obviously girls play a big part. I better not go into too much detail on that one.

What would be the perfect day for you?

Brad
